90s Pop Rock
Back in the 90s, pop rock music acquired a new aesthetic and set out to appeal to many younger fans. Groups such as Nirvana, Sound Garden or Green Day were already writing catchy songs, but the music was still quite hard hitting to be considered really pop inspired. On the other hand, artists the likes of Aerosmith and Bryan Adams, who were well known already, set out to revitalize their careers in those years, smoothing their sound and making it more radio-friendly. Aerosmith, for example, set out to write some of their most well-known hits in the 90s, including songs such as "Cryin'" or "Crazy", not to mention the generational anthem "I don't Wanna miss a thing" made famous as a leading songs off the soundtrack of sci-fi flick "Armageddon", starring Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler, who also happens to be the daughter of Steven Tyler, the notorious front-man of Aerosmith. Pop rock was finally becoming his own genre, with bands such as Counting Crows, Smashmouth or Barenaked Ladies creating infectious, edgy and melodic songs with a bright and uplifting attitude.
